Bangladesh Health Economics Unit Website Revised and Online

The Health Economics Unit (HEU) of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in Bangladesh has revised their website. The website features essential information and downloads on the work of HEU. The recently approved Health Care Financing Strategy (2012-2032) is a prominent feature on the website. As Bangladesh is taking its first steps towards Universal Coverage, the HEU recognizes the need for an information hub on Heath Financing and Health Economics. In the upcoming weeks the HEU together with GIZ will be working to optimise the website.


Bangladesh Health Population and Nutrition Development Partner Consortium

The Government of Bangladesh has been conducting a sector-wide approach programme coordinated with bilateral and multilateral donors to strengthen the health sector; it is called the Health, Population, and Nutrition Sector Development Programme (HPNSDP). It is the largest sector-wide approach in the world and is supported by 23 development partners. 

GIZ Health Bangladesh has assisted to develop a new website for the health consortium partners as a contribution to better knowledge management. This newly designed Health, Population and Nutrition website (http://www.hpnconsortium.org) features all essential information about the HPNSDP development partner consortium. It aims to promote the sharing and application of knowledge on health development in Bangladesh and to serve as an information resource for those interested to know more about the HPNSDP. The website is an information hub and document repository for the HPNSDP and its 2 former sector development programs. It contains HPNSDP operational plans, annual program reviews, laws, events, Minutes of Meetings, as well as information and materials of all involved development partners. Development partners have recognized the website’s valuable contribution towards better knowledge management, harmonization and better transparency of development interventions in Bangladesh.


HeSPA NETWORK - Development Partnerships for Health & Social Protection

The HeSPA Network is an Africa-wide interactive information exchange platform on Development Partnerships for Health and Social Protection.

The mission of the Network is to contribute to increased knowledge and understanding of the role of the private sector in African health and social protection systems in general and its effective and efficient engagement in particular through the facilitation and promotion of information exchange in Africa.


Providing for Health: Moving together towards universal social health protection

The Providing for Health (P4H) initiative is a response to the global challenge that every year some 100 million people are being pushed into poverty while accessing health services. Many more are too poor even to seek health care.

The P4H initiative comprises Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank and The African Development Bank (AfDB).

Germany is represented through the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Collaborating partners at implementation level are the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW Development Bank).


The Tanzanian German Programme to Support Health (TGPSH)

The Tanzanian German Programme to Support Health (TGPSH) was launched in 2003, with the involvement of the different organizations of the German Development Cooperation (GDC) in order to jointly assist Tanzania's Health Sector Reform in a Sector Wide Approach (SWAp). We  provide policy, strategy and technical advice to relevant public and private sector institutions and  share the same goal as the Health Sector Reform:

"To improve the health and well being of all Tanzanians, with focus on those most at risk and to encourage the health system to be more responsive to the needs of the people".

Local-pharma-production.net is an internet platform that aims at encouraging the local production of affordable, good-quality medicines and pharmaceuticals in Africa.

The platform provides the most important information for countries and companies on the topics of TRIPS, quality, financial issues, investment and other important matters. Thereby, an information hub is created, offering an overview over existing sources and making it easier to find relevant information.

It is a cooperation between the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ), the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).


Mainstreaming HIV in German Development Cooperation

Since 2001, German Development Cooperation (GDC) has responded to the HIV challenge by ‘Mainstreaming’ HIV at its workplaces and in its development projects and programmes in Subsaharan Africa. On this website, find out more about the way this has been done – in different partner countries, in different sectors and by the different German organisations.


The Indonesian Health Platform

The Consolidation Programme Health / Policy Analysis and Formulation (PAF) has launched “The Indonesian Health Platform”. This website aims to share products which have been developed, tested and applied by GIZ supported Health projects in Indonesia during the last 10 years. More than 200 products on health system development are available e.g. toolkits, software, films, evaluation tools, training manuals, IEC materials and studies. 

Web users will also be able to access information on recent and upcoming events, laws and regulation on health and more. The Indonesian Health Platform encourages the creation, sharing, and effective application of knowledge on health development in Indonesia. The platform counts on its users to help make it a valuable tool for all working in the health development sector.

German - Vietnamese Development Cooperation

Vietnam is one of the most important partner countries of German Development Cooperation in Asia. The following priority areas of cooperation have been agreed upon between the Vietnamese and the German Governments:

Fit for School

Fit for School Inc. is a Philippine Non-Governmental Organization that works closely with the health and education sectors, various development agencies and private partners on effective school health programs. It offers information, technical assistance and a high-level network to support the institutionalization of school health programs.


German BACKUP Initiative

The German BACKUP Initiative offers assistance to countries that lack the expertise and structures needed to submit viable project proposals for controlling infectious diseases and put the available money to effective use. Since 2002, this programme has been supporting numerous countries in accessing and implementing Global Fund grants. BACKUP is an acronym which means Building Alliances, Creating Knowledge and Updating Partners.


German-Ukrainian Partnership Initiative for HIV/AIDS Prevention (in German)

The German-Ukrainian Partnership Initiative for HIV/AIDS Prevention has been implemented by GTZ since 2008 under the Joint Statement on Cooperation in the Field of Health signed between the German Federal Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in 2007.  

Within the framework of bilateral cooperation, leading German institutions and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) share their experience and know-how in fighting against HIV and AIDS with their Ukrainian partners. The gained experience is intended to give a sustainable impetus to the partners to develop and implement HIV prevention strategies and thus benefit the society as a whole. The main areas of work of the Partnership Initiative directions include HIV prevention, diagnosis and treatment, as well as the provision of social support, epidemiology and surveillance.

The synergies between the projects have led to long term and fruitful cooperations between the fields and regions in which the Partnership Initiative is active, supporting and encouraging the exchange among the Ukrainian partners.


AWiSA Network – HIV & AIDS in the workplace

“AWiSA Network – HIV & AIDS in the workplace” is a non-profit internet based information and communication platform funded through the German Government.

The mission of the AWiSA Network is to contribute to the fight against HIV & AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa by providing relevant information about HIV & AIDS in the workplace, and linking people and organisations working in this field. They foster a work environment free of stigma and discrimination, with an emphasis on gender equality and irrelevant of race or religion.

Founding members of the AWiSA Network are SAfAIDS (Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information and Dissemination Service) 
and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).
