Under Germany's dual presidency of the EU Council and the G8 in 2007, the German government came out strongly in favour of a gender-sensitive global response to HIV, and since then it has been a leader toward this aim internationally. The aim of this policy brief is to elucidate Germany's contribution to this gender sensitivity for the benefit of its international partners and to provide a policy framework for decision-makers in German development cooperation.
